There are a couple different ways to use the Spots Screen – the most common are when you’re trying to find out where to surf now and where to surf sometime in the future.
Where should I surf now?
To find out where to surf now, sort the list by rating descending. Your screen should look like this –
Your best bet is going to always be on the top. Keep in mind though that you might not have greater than 5 sessions at this spot. Lazy Surfer won’t be able to tell if the conditions are right for you in this case and you might want to scroll down more and find the first spot with more than 5 sessions.
Where should I surf at some future time?
To find the best place to surf at some time in the future sort the spots list by “Date” –
You’ll see the predicted ratings for all your spots at each time in the future. Tap the spot name to go to the forecast screen for that spot and get more details about the swell, wind, and tide.
Keep in mind that if you want more than 2 days of forecast you’ll need to purchase the Lazy Surfer PRO subscription.
Other Cool Stuff
Map – Hit the “Map” button in the sort bar to see a map of all your spots. You can even see the locations of the buoys used for condition and forecast information.
Forecast – Tap any spot card or spot name to go to the forecast for that spot. The forecast screen will give you much more information including the two most energetic swells, wind, and tide. You’ll also be able to see all your sessions at the spot.
Hide spots with fewer than 5 sessions – Once you have a lot of spots with greater than 5 sessions you might want to just focus on those spots. On the settings screen you can toggle on the option “Spots Filter” to only show spots with greater than 5 sessions.
Missing time periods? – Is the “Date” sort not showing times that you surf? Just go into the settings and change your “Similarity Alert Hours”. Lazy Surfer only shows times within those hours.
